Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Victor Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Hughman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Hughman has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Victor Pound's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hughman lands in his opponent's guard.

Pound knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hughman on the ground.
Hughman wants to control from the top but Pound keeps moving.
Hughman wants to pass the guard but Pound is keeping the position.

Hughman stands up over Pound, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughman wants to control from the top but Pound keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hughman wants to stand but Pound is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hughman wants to control from the top but Pound keeps moving.

Hughman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hughman takes one to the side of the head.

Pound darts in and clinches Hughman up against the cage.

Pound manages to break the clinch.
Hughman wants to clinch.
Pound fails to land with a series of punches.
Pound throws a right and a left that Hughman avoids nicely.

Hughman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pound's guard.

Pound throws an overhand right that lands on Hughman's shoulder, as Hughman tries to avoid the shot.
Nice sprawl there from Pound as Hughman shoots in.
Hughman shoots in and drives through. Pound sprawls well.
Pound connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hughman tries to clinch but Pound moves out of range.

and Pound connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hughman throws the kick towards the body but Pound avoids it.

Hughman throws a right and a left that Pound avoids nicely.

and Hughman counters with a shoot takedown. Pound fights it but they end up in guard.
Pound wants to get back to his feet but Hughman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pound not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pound is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hughman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Pound wants to stand and escape but Hughman is having none of it.

Pound manages to break the clinch.

Pound throws a series of punches but Hughman avoids them all with ease.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Pound breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hughman doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Hughman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pound feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hughman's calf.
Hughman has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Pound plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pound clinches up with Hughman and pushes him back against the cage.

Pound manages to break the clinch.
Victor Pound seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hughman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Hughman looks for a takedown but Pound sprawls well.
Victor Pound has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Hughman.
A combination from Pound does no damage.
Victor Pound is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pound misses with a two punch combination.
Hughman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pound paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hughman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pound swivels and escapes.
Hughman tries to move into range but Pound moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

and Pound makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Hughman pulls Pound into guard.

Hughman had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pound is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hughman Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pound's back instead.
Hughman is riding his opponent, not letting Pound buck him off.

Pound just trying to survive but Hughman is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hughman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pound is defending well though. Hughman let's go of the attempt for now.

That was a close second round but I would say that Victor Pound will probably get the nod.

Hughman tries to close the distance and clinch but Pound swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pound throws a combination that misses
and Hughman counters with a three punch combo that has Pound backing up. Pound nods at Hughman to acknowledge the strikes.

Pound is rocked!
Pound misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Oh Pound is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hughman rushes Pound and presses him up against the cage.
Pound wants to break free but Hughman has control.

Hughman pulls guard.
Hughman is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Hughman pushes Pound off and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hughman throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Pound crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
