PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jessie Law (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kilgore Trout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trout has chosen The Chase, Giorgio Moroder as his entrance music. Kilgore Trout told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Law drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Law showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Trout thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Law drops back looking for a leg! Trout is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Trout manages to kick Law off! Law jumps back into Trout's guard.

Law won't allow Trout to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Trout moves into the clinch.

Trout breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Law drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Trout wants to get back to his feet but Law drags him back down.
Law trying to control the action but Trout is working from the bottom.
Trout manages to work his way to half guard, despite Law's best efforts.
Trout wants to stand back up but Law manages to pass into side control.
Law is looking to take a break and control but Trout is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Trout sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Law missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Law trying to control from half guard but Trout is working away.
Trout regains full guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Law controls from within his opponent's guard.
Trout is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Trout uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Law looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Trout is fending him off so far but Law persists. Nope, Trout circles away and we're back to standing.
Law takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Trout lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Trout gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Trout using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Trout breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Law bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Law is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Law advances to full mount.

Law looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Law working for a submission but Trout is keeping him at bay.
Law controlling his opponent.

Law is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Trout has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Law trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Trout tries to improve his position but instead Law has taken his back!
Law gets his hands free as Trout looks to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
