Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damon Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henderson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: "Sandstorm" - Darude. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damon Pierce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Henderson!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierce gets the takedown into side control.

Pierce is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Henderson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pierce is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Henderson has escaped the position, nice work there.
You can see the frustration on Henderson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Henderson stops Pierce from passing to mount.

Pierce tries for a kimura but Henderson is defending well.
Henderson is trying to control Pierce's posture but Pierce avoids it.

Pierce tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pierce has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pierce tries to advance to mount but can't.

Pierce swings around for an armbar but Henderson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pierce's guard.
Henderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Pierce is retaining full guard.

Pierce looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pierce is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Henderson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pierce is looking for a triangle but Henderson pushes his legs off easily.

Pierce wants to sweep but no luck.
Henderson trying to control but Pierce is working from the bottom.
Henderson advances to half guard.
Henderson prevents Pierce from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pierce is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Henderson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Henderson's back!

Pierce is breathing heavily.

Henderson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Henderson breaks Pierce's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Henderson drops back looking for a leg! Pierce is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pierce manages to kick Henderson off! Henderson jumps back into Pierce's guard.
Henderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Pierce is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damon Pierce dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Pierce gets caught flat footed, as Henderson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Pierce looking to hit a scissor sweep but Henderson is one step ahead there.
Pierce lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Henderson!
Henderson is looking to improve his position but Pierce isn't that keen on the idea.

Pierce jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Henderson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Henderson and Pierce has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Henderson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Henderson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pierce's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pierce's back!

Henderson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Pierce drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Henderson dives on top into guard.
Henderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pierce swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pierce is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Henderson defends well.

Henderson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pierce working for a triangle but Henderson defends it easily.

Pierce escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Henderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pierce has his foot on Henderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Henderson works his way back into a safe position though.

Pierce is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Henderson defends well.

Henderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pierce keeps working.

Henderson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pierce is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Henderson yanks on the arm and Pierce is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Henderson.
