Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, George Wells!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz checks a low kick from Wells.
Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wells sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat.
Wells fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Diaz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Wells lands a high kick!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Diaz.
Diaz tries to bum rush Wells with a series of wild strikes but Wells uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
An inside leg kick from Wells misses.
Wells scores with a spinning back kick!
Good leg kick by Wells there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wells enables Diaz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wells manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wells is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Diaz is controlling him.
Wells is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Diaz pushes down on Wells's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Wells pushes Diaz off looking to stand but Diaz dives back in and keeps control.
Diaz trying to pass the guard but Wells defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wells wants to get back to his feet.
Wells keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Diaz is working for a kimura but Wells is defending it quite comfortably.
Wells tries to kick Diaz off but Diaz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Diaz tries to pass to full mount but Wells defends it.
Diaz works his way into side control.
Diaz tries to advance to mount but Wells denies him.
Wells wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Diaz advances nicely into full mount.

Wells is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Diaz is working for a guillotine from mount but Wells frees his head quite easily.
Diaz punishing his opponent with strikes.
Wells in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Diaz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wells looks a forlorn figure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wells is trying to stand up.

Diaz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Wells manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Wells pushes Diaz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Diaz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Diaz is working to tighten is grip on Wells's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Wells has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Diaz is really squeezing tight and eventually Wells passes out! Diaz breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Rick Diaz!
