PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Te Guruma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tutan Khamon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guruma kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is A Tear In The Open. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Te Guruma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tutan Khamon!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khamon tries to close the distance and clinch but Guruma swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Guruma tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Khamon swivels and escapes.
Guruma throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Guruma darts in and clinches Khamon up against the cage.
Guruma lands a nice uppercut.

Guruma lands a takedown into guard.
Guruma is in close to Khamon's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guruma tries to free his leg and advance position but Khamon is retaining full guard.
Guruma lands a couple of digs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Khamon rushes Guruma and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Guruma manages to break the clinch.
A combination from Guruma does no damage.

Khamon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Khamon lands in his opponent's guard.
Guruma bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khamon's guard.

Guruma tries to free his leg and advance position but Khamon is retaining full guard.

Khamon wants to stand up but Guruma is controlling him.
Khamon wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Khamon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Guruma circles away.

Khamon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No luck for Guruma with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Te Guruma. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Guruma drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.
Khamon gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Khamon wants to control but Guruma is keeping busy.
Guruma is pressing down on Khamon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Khamon is holding on for now.

Guruma gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Guruma feints and as Khamon raises his hands in defense, Guruma changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Khamon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Guruma controls the pace.

Guruma gets to his feet. Khamon looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Guruma is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Khamon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Guruma manages to break the clinch.

Khamon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Guruma decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Guruma has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Khamon regains guard immediately.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Te Guruma dominated that round.
That's time! Guruma's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Guruma scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Guruma seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Te Guruma overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Guruma has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Guruma is keen to just control but Khamon is a slippery customer.
Guruma is taking a breather. Khamon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Guruma's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Khamon gets caught flat footed, as Guruma shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Guruma stands and steps away. Khamon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Te Guruma dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Guruma throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Khamon tries to pull guard but Guruma holds him up against the cage and eventually Khamon drops back down to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Guruma counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Te Guruma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tutan Khamon.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Guruma in particular looking to stall.

Well Guruma has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
