Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Corliss Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Maya!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams throws a right hand that Maya ducks under and follows up with a left that Maya also avoids with ease.

Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Williams avoids the attempt from Maya to control.
Maya is controlling an arm, preventing Williams from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Maya is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams controlling from the full mount.
Maya blocking the ground and pound.
Maya is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maya regains half guard.

Williams decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Maya stuffs the takedown.
Maya takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Maya bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Maya looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Maya misses with a takedown

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Maya trying to hold on to Williams's head to control him but Williams postures up.
Maya wants to get back to full guard.

Williams is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Maya doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Williams.

Williams decides to stand and escape the position.
Williams doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Maya counters with a takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams tries to bench press Maya off him but Maya keeps the position.
Maya is trying to move to mount but Williams reverses beautifully and ends up in Maya's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Williams has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Maya is proving hard to escape from.

Maya had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Williams defends it easily.
Maya looks gassed!

Williams stands and steps away. Maya gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Williams shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Maya gets back to full guard.

Williams wanted to stand there but Maya had control of the position.

Maya is working an open guard so Williams takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Williams throws a nice looking combination but Maya bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
No joy there for Williams, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Williams trying to control but Maya is working from the bottom.

Maya is working an open guard so Williams takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams lands with an overhand left.
Maya takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Maya wants to sweep but no luck.

Williams stands and steps away. Maya gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Corliss Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maya tries to clinch up but Williams circles away and keeps his distance.

Maya is breathing heavily.

Williams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Maya, up you get!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maya sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.

Williams gets the takedown into side control.

Williams is looking to take a break and control but Maya is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Williams decides to stand back up. Williams steps back and let's Maya get back to his feet.

Williams closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Maya to the mat! Maya manages to get full guard.
Williams passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Maya tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Williams decides to stand back up. Williams steps back and let's Maya get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Williams looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Maya has his takedown stuffed

and Williams counters with a single leg into guard. Maya didn't expect that.
Corliss Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Maya.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Williams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Maya, up you get!
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maya paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Williams lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Maya at a distance.

Maya gets caught flat footed, as Williams shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Williams gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Williams tries to bum rush Maya with a series of wild strikes but Maya uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Maya takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Williams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Williams decides to stand back up.

Williams shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Williams was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Williams working for a guillotine from mount but Maya is in no mood to give up.

Williams landing strikes from the mount and Maya is in trouble!

Williams is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Corliss Williams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Williams misses with a two punch combination.
Williams is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maya can do to turn this around?
Williams misses with an uppercut. Maya saw that one coming.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Williams breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Maya gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Maya tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg.
Williams thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Williams decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Some wild striking there from Maya.
Williams scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Maya shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Williams counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Williams.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maya takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Williams controlling from the top position.
Williams wants to control from the top but Maya keeps moving.

Williams gets to his feet - Maya follows without any prompting.
Maya tries to clinch up

and Williams counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Maya!
Williams is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Maya can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Williams tries to control but Maya wriggling away.

Williams is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Williams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maya moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Williams throws a nice looking combination but Maya bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Williams closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Williams tightens his grip and picks Maya up, before dumping him to the ground. Maya manages to land in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Williams wants to pass the guard but Maya is keeping the position.

Williams is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Williams seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Maya looking for a guillotine here but Williams defends easily.

Williams stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maya swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Williams stands up and waves to Maya to follow him.
Williams scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


Maya is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Williams tries to clinch but Maya is having none of it.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.

Williams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Dan Maya has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Williams tries to move to mount but Maya blocks the move with his legs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Corliss Williams showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Williams has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
