PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jokke Hansseen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Trick Daddy - Let's Go ft Twista & Lil Jon. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jokke Hansseen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oscar Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hansseen swivels and escapes.
Diaz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hansseen.

Hansseen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hansseen is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Diaz tries to bench press Hansseen off him but Hansseen keeps the position.
Diaz gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hansseen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Hansseen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hansseen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hansseen has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted.

Hansseen drops back looking for a leg! Diaz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Diaz manages to kick Hansseen off! Hansseen jumps back into Diaz's guard.

Hansseen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Hansseen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hansseen passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Diaz!

Hansseen jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Diaz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Diaz and Hansseen has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Diaz has one foot on Hansseen's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Hansseen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close round but Oscar Diaz will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hansseen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Diaz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hansseen somewhat.
Diaz avoids the head kick by Hansseen.
Diaz takes a swing at Hansseen's ribcage but misses.
Hansseen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diaz pinned against the cage. Diaz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hansseen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jokke Hansseen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hansseen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diaz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diaz in particular looking to stall.

Diaz wants to control from the top but Hansseen keeps moving.

Diaz might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hansseen kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hansseen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Diaz is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hansseen.

Hansseen avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Diaz.

Diaz scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hansseen to see if he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Diaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Oscar Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Diaz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hansseen drops back looking for a leg! Diaz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Diaz manages to kick Hansseen off! Hansseen jumps back into Diaz's guard.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Hansseen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hansseen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Diaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Diaz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hansseen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hansseen has his foot on Diaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Diaz works his way back into a safe position though.

Well Diaz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
