Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edward Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaori Masuyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendez comes into the arena with Big Pun-Dream Shatterer blaring out of the sound system. Kaori Masuyo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez shoots in but Masuyo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Masuyo lands a jab to the head.
Masuyo connects with a single shot there.
Masuyo leaves Mendez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Oooooh!!! Masuyo has knocked Mendez down with a huge combo! Masuyo steps away and waves a wobbly Mendez back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Edward Mendez has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Masuyo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Masuyo is trying to control Mendez's posture but Mendez avoids it.
Mendez grinds an elbow into Masuyo's temple.
The strikes coming from Mendez are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
You can see the frustration on Masuyo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Masuyo tries to improve position but can't.
Mendez misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Mendez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mendez in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Masuyo is trying to get back to his feet.

Masuyo is looking for a sweep.
Mendez lands some shots froms side control.
Mendez scores with a couple of short elbows.
Mendez is working Masuyo over with some ground and pound from side control.

Masuyo throws Mendez to one side and escapes!
Masuyo goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Mendez is breathing heavily.

Masuyo pushes Mendez up against the ropes in a clinch.

Masuyo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Masuyo lands a head kick!

Mendez is rocked!
That kick from Masuyo tenderised Mendez's leg. Mendez is trying to keep his angry face on.
Oh Mendez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Masuyo lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Mendez is looking to close the distance but Masuyo sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Mendez crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Mendez is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
