PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timber Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that John Lucas has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John Lucas seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Lucas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Timber Lake!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lucas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Lucas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lucas drops back looking for a leg! Lake is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lake manages to kick Lucas off! Lucas jumps back into Lake's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lucas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lake manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lucas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lucas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lake is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Lake really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lucas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lake is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lake can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lucas throws a big right hand that misses.
Lucas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lucas has control of Lake's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lake regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Lake keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Lucas jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lake is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lake and Lucas has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lake enables Lucas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lake manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
