PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trent Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Pacquiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Adams might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The way. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams fails to land the takedown.
Pacquiao avoids a punch combination nicely.
Adams misses with a takedown attempt - Pacquiao sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pacquiao throws a right hand that Adams ducks under and follows up with a left that Adams also avoids with ease.

Adams gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pacquiao to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Adams can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pacquiao controls the pace.
Adams looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pacquiao is one step ahead there.
Pacquiao wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving.
Pacquiao must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Adams is wriggling around but Pacquiao manages to pass to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Pacquiao gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Pacquiao shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Adams napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pacquiao is trying to ground and pound but Adams uses the momentary lack of control by Pacquiao to regain half guard.
Adams tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Pacquiao has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Pacquiao can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Adams is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pacquiao tries to control but Adams wriggling away.
Pacquiao sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Adams regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Manny Pacquiao dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Pacquiao fails with the takedown

and Adams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pacquiao's guard.
Adams is working Pacquiao over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pacquiao wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving.
Adams can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pacquiao controls the pace.
Adams might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pacquiao drops back, looking for a kneebar! Adams looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Adams looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Adams!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Adams decides to stand back up. Adams steps back and let's Pacquiao get back to his feet.

Pacquiao closes the distance and clinches.
Pacquiao lands a hook to the side of the head.
Pacquiao is pushing Adams up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Pacquiao pulls guard successfully.
Pacquiao throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Adams trying to stand up but can't free himself from Pacquiao's guard.
Manny Pacquiao has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pacquiao is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Adams gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pacquiao gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pacquiao is trying to control the position but Adams postures up.
Adams won't allow Pacquiao to get back to his feet.
Pacquiao tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Pacquiao is looking for a triangle but Adams pushes his legs off easily.
Pacquiao keeping moving, preventing Adams from controlling successfully.

Adams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pacquiao, up you get!
Pacquiao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Adams tries to avoid it but Pacquiao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Adams to the ground. Adams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

A telegraphed right hand from Adams misses the target.
Adams tries to close the distance and clinch but Pacquiao swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pacquiao shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Adams counters with a three punch combo that has Pacquiao backing up. Pacquiao nods at Adams to acknowledge the strikes.
Trent Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manny Pacquiao.
Adams throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pacquiao counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Adams moves into the clinch.
Pacquiao jumps guard but Adams stands there with Pacquiao around his waist. Pacquiao gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Pacquiao fails to pull guard.
Pacquiao can't find room to land a body shot as Adams controls the action.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pacquiao is trying to force a seperation but Adams has the dominant position.
Adams wants to break the clinch but can't.

Pacquiao escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pacquiao uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Adams.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

so Adams counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pacquiao is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Pacquiao is trying to control the position but Adams postures up.

Pacquiao is working an open guard so Adams takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Adams counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pacquiao's guard now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Adams wants to stand but Pacquiao has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Adams stands and steps away. Pacquiao gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pacquiao dodges the punch combination from Adams.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pacquiao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Adams is fending him off so far but Pacquiao persists. Nope, Adams circles away and we're back to standing.

Pacquiao uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Adams.

Adams throws a head kick that misses.
Adams tries to clinch there but Pacquiao circles away.
Pacquiao misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Pacquiao drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pacquiao drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Adams dives on top into guard.

Pacquiao is fighting to break Adams's control of his arms but Adams is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Manny Pacquiao wasn't active enough on the ground.
Adams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pacquiao swivels and escapes.

Pacquiao rushes Adams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trent Adams.
I think Adams has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
