PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between King Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dem Bones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, King Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dem Bones!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bones fails in his attempt to clinch.
A thudding body kick lands there by Bass!

Bass drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bass throws a big right hand that misses.
Bass pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bones is keeping the position for now.
Bones wants to control the position but Bass says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Bass wants to take a breather but Bones is having none of it.
Bass thows a huge punch but Bones dodges it nicely.
Bones wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bass in particular looking to stall.
Bass really is a fat lump.

Bass is looking for a kimura but Bones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bass to get the leverage.
Bass wants to free his trapped foot but Bones is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Bass seems to be working for a kimura but Bones defends the submission attempt.
Bass tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Bones.
Bass is breathing heavily.

Bones tries to get to full guard but Bass has control of the leg.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bones wanted to stand there but Bass had control of the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bass is on top in guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bass wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bones keeps working.
Bass is pressing down on Bones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bones is holding on for now.

Bones might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bass kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Bass is keen to just control but Bones is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bones avoids the head kick by Bass.
Good leg kick by Bass there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Bass counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bones won't be happy with that.

Bass decides to stand back up.
Bass throws a jab when Bones was well out of range.

Bones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bass counters with a single leg into guard. Bones didn't expect that.
King Bass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dem Bones.
Bones controls Bass momentarily but Bass frees himself.
Bass stops Bones from standing up.
Bass postures up.
Bones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bass manages to get himself to full guard.
Bones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Bones stands and throws Bass's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bass tries to buck Bones off but Bones is having none of it.

Bones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Bones tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Bass tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bones in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bass tries to bench press Bones off him but Bones keeps the position.
Bass gets back to half guard.
Bass is pressing down on Bones's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Bass is looking for a triangle but Bones pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bass throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bass working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Bass dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Bones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bass looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A lull in the action here.
Bass gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Bass wants to control but Bones is keeping busy.
The fighters are battling for position here. Bass manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Bones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Bass manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bones manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bass is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bass slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Bones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bass passes Bones's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Bass is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Bass is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bass.
Bass wants to free his trapped foot but Bones is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Bass is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Bass fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Bass is cranking Bones's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Bones! He's tightened the choke and Bones is tapping out!
