PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshiro Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power slips a jab from Gomi.

Power gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gomi to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gomi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Power swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gomi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Gomi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Power dives on top into guard.
Power wants to stand but Gomi is controlling his posture from full guard.

Gomi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Power!
Power has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Gomi's lack of action.

Power is defending against the submission attempts here by Gomi.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gomi seems to be working for a kimura but Power defends the submission attempt.

Gomi is looking for a kimura but Power is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gomi to get the leverage.
Gomi is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Power has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gomi is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Power got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Power has managed to get both his arms back between Gomi's legs - danger averted.

Power stands up from Gomi's guard - Power perhaps looking for a knockout.

Yoshiro Gomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
