PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldo De Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sven Rouge Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rouge Knight has chosen N.I.B - Black Sabbath as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Sousa clinches.
De Sousa has Rouge Knight pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rouge Knight manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

De Sousa jumps into guard, dragging Rouge Knight to the mat.
Rouge Knight trying to stand up but can't free himself from De Sousa's guard.
Rouge Knight looking to sit in guard and control but De Sousa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rouge Knight is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
De Sousa forces his way into half guard.

De Sousa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

De Sousa is looking for a kimura but Rouge Knight is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for De Sousa to get the leverage.

De Sousa is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Rouge Knight still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Rouge Knight has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Rouge Knight decides to stand up, so the ref orders De Sousa to his feet.

De Sousa shoots in and gets a takedown into Rouge Knight's guard.

De Sousa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rouge Knight looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rouge Knight looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rouge Knight!

Rouge Knight decides to stand back up. Rouge Knight steps back and let's De Sousa get back to his feet.

De Sousa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than De Sousa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
De Sousa goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rouge Knight turns into him and now he's in De Sousa's guard.

Rouge Knight gets to his feet. De Sousa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
De Sousa is breathing heavily.
Horrible takedown by De Sousa or perhaps it was just good defense by Rouge Knight which made him look bad.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
De Sousa leaves Rouge Knight with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rouge Knight fails with an attempt to clinch.

De Sousa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rouge Knight was covering up waiting for the punch and De Sousa finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rouge Knight is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

De Sousa has gone for a leg lock! Rouge Knight slips out almost immediately though and dives into De Sousa's guard.

De Sousa is working an open guard so Rouge Knight takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rouge Knight looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

De Sousa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rouge Knight is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked De Sousa off and has taken his back!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

De Sousa with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rouge Knight to score with a decent uppercut.

De Sousa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

De Sousa tries for a kimura but Rouge Knight is defending well.

Rouge Knight is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so De Sousa is just riding it out for now. Rouge Knight eventually gives up the hold.

Rouge Knight wants to stand but his hand is trapped. De Sousa uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Rouge Knight postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! De Sousa is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rouge Knight, into his guard.

De Sousa drops back looking for a leg! Rouge Knight is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rouge Knight manages to kick De Sousa off! De Sousa jumps back into Rouge Knight's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rouge Knight decides to take the fight back to the feet.

De Sousa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Rouge Knight has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for De Sousa. Oh but Rouge Knight has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! De Sousa goes limp - he's gone! Rouge Knight jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
