Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Valeriy Kozlaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lipidio Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kozlaev's entrance music is Drago. A fine choice. Lipidio Ribeiro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lipidio Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kozlaev scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
A jab from Kozlaev finds it's way through Ribeiro's defenses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kozlaev thows a huge punch but Ribeiro dodges it nicely.
Kozlaev is trying to control the action in half guard but Ribeiro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kozlaev wants to free his trapped foot but Ribeiro is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kozlaev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ribeiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kozlaev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kozlaev is taking a breather. Ribeiro says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kozlaev is nestled in close to Ribeiro, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ribeiro can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, if Kozlaev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kozlaev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Ribeiro is still in real trouble! Can Kozlaev finish him?

Kozlaev takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kozlaev's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
