The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McRedd throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

McRedd throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Da Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and McRedd finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McRedd stays in close to Da Silva's body and controls the position.

Da Silva manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McRedd tries to reverse the position but Da Silva maintains control.

Da Silva working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Da Silva throws a strike there. McRedd manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
