PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brad Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conan Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Black Flood Diesel - Lost Cause. Conan Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Brad Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Conan Jones!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson slips a jab and a cross from Jones.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nelson, pushing him back against the cage.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Nelson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nelson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Nelson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jones, who protects the arm well.
Jones is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nelson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Nelson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jones has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Nelson but great work by Jones.
Nelson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Nelson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Nelson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nelson wants to get back to full guard.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Nelson trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Nelson wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones lands a jab to Nelson's midsection.
Nelson tries to clinch up.

The fighters circling - Nelson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nelson misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nelson is breathing heavily.
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones throws a leg kick which misses Nelson's front leg but catches the back leg as Nelson tries to avoid it.
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nelson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones misses with a wild body shot.
Jones scores with a jab to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jones throws a left that rocks Nelson and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Jones dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Nelson regain composure!

Nelson is rocked!

It looks like Brad Nelson has been cut.

Jones stands up and beckons Nelson to his feet.
Oh Nelson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones scores with a leg kick.
Nelson seems to have got his legs back now.
Jones cracks Nelson with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Nelson tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Jones pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Nelson is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Conan Jones!
