Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between David Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jeff ibanez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, jeff ibanez!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith thows a body shot but no joy.
ibanez slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Smith has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from ibanez.
Smith misses with a wild combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from ibanez is defended easily by Smith.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
ibanez tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
ibanez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but ibanez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
ibanez jabs at Smith's body.
Smith misses with a double jab.
ibanez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
ibanez is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Smith is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in ibanez's half guard.
Smith wants to control but ibanez is keeping him busy.
ibanez tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
ibanez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Smith.
Smith trying to control the action but ibanez is working from the bottom.
ibanez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Smith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Smith's back!
Smith wants to get back to his feet.

ibanez is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Smith is defending well though. ibanez let's go of the attempt for now.
Smith tries to roll but ibanez sticks to his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith turns into ibanez and is now in his guard.

Smith stands up and waves to ibanez to follow him.
ibanez throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard.
ibanez keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
ibanez controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

ibanez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Smith controls from within his opponent's guard.
ibanez is pulling down on Smith's head. It's preventing any offense from Smith, at least for the moment.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but ibanez is retaining full guard.
Smith wants to control from the top but ibanez keeps moving.
Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We're going to have a standup here because David Smith wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from ibanez.
David Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jeff ibanez.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
ibanez moves out of range of the body kick from Smith.
ibanez tries for a takedown but Smith circles away easily

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Smith lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
ibanez is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can ibanez avoid being mounted?
Smith keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Smith has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, ibanez works to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Smith dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Smith drops ibanez with a beautiful combination! ibanez stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Smith is looking for the KO!


ibanez is rocked!


It looks like jeff ibanez has been cut.
Sloppy strikes from Smith. Those never looked like landing.
ibanez is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
ibanez is holding his hands too far apart here. Smith throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! ibanez is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). David Smith!
