PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between dongskie santos II (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rey Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

santos II closes the distance and clinches.

Henry successfully pulls guard.

Henry is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Henry keeps the fight in the clinch, despite santos II's efforts to push away.
Henry is trying to drag santos II to the mat but santos II just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
santos II is trying to force a seperation but Henry has the dominant position.
santos II misses with a hook from the clinch.

santos II breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Henry lands a head kick. santos II smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
santos II misses with a jab, cross combination.
santos II tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Henry swivels and escapes.

santos II pushes Henry up against the ropes in a clinch.
Henry is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Henry jumps into guard, dragging santos II to the mat.
Henry throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
santos II has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Henry wants to sweep but no luck.
Henry is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Henry striking off his back but it's not causing santos II any problems.
Henry manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. santos II manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Henry slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
santos II is letting Henry control him for a moment.
santos II is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Henry is controlling him well.
santos II is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Henry has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Rey Henry is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Henry tries to close the distance and clinch up but santos II swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Henry tries to clinch but santos II is having none of it.

and Henry counters by moving into the clinch.

Henry successfully pulls guard.
santos II wants to stand but Henry has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

santos II has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Henry to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! santos II is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Henry pulls down on the head and he's put santos II to sleep! This one is all over!
