The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva moves out of range as Staples strikes.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Staples is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Staples circles away and we're back to standing.

Staples fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Silva, pushing him back against the cage.
Staples makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Staples throws a punch but it's blocked by Silva.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Staples creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Staples lands a left hand.
Staples lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Silva backwards.
Silva wants a takedown.
A nice right hand lands inside from Staples.

Silva's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Silva is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Staples screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
