PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Joe Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Hector Munoz!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Munoz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bob, pushing him back against the cage.

Munoz is trying to trip Bob. He has hold of a leg but Bob is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Munoz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Munoz wants to get up but he can't break Bob's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Munoz gets to his feet - Bob follows without any prompting.
Munoz tries to clinch but Bob is having none of it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Munoz clinches.
Munoz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bob pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bob is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Bob is breathing heavily.
Bob tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Munoz smiles and moves away.

Munoz clinches with his opponent.

Munoz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bob shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Munoz sprawls well. Munoz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bob gets slowly back to his feet.

Munoz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Munoz decides to stand back up. Munoz steps back and let's Bob get back to his feet.

Munoz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bob to the mat! Bob manages to get full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Munoz stands up from Bob's guard - Munoz perhaps looking for a knockout.

Bob takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Munoz shoots in for a double leg but Bob sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Munoz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bob knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Munoz on the ground.
Still in half guard, Munoz seems content to control.

Munoz gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Munoz forces Bob back against the cage and clinches.
Munoz lands with a short shot to the head.

Munoz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Munoz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bob tries for a takedown but Munoz manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Bob. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Munoz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Munoz looking for a sweep. Not yet Munoz, not yet.
Bob lands a couple of elbows.
Bob is looking to work some ground and pound but Munoz has wrist control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Munoz is on top in guard.
Munoz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bob works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bob tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Munoz stands up from Bob's guard - Munoz perhaps looking for a knockout.
Bob stuffs the takedown.
Munoz looks for a takedown but Bob sprawls well.
Munoz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bob lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bob.
Munoz dives in and grabs Bob's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bob pushes down on Munoz's head and hops out.

and Munoz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bob's guard now.

Munoz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Bob, up you get!

Bob throws a right and a left that both miss.

Munoz keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.
Bob is really struggling to control Munoz but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Bob takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Munoz is landing with some decent strikes but Bob is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Munoz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bob's face.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Poor strikes thrown by Munoz there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Bob is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Munoz swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bob is now in Munoz's guard. A big mistake from Munoz there, giving up the dominant position!

Bob decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Munoz, up you get!

Hector Munoz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

enabling Bob to counter with a crisp jab.

Munoz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Munoz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Bob stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Munoz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bob throws a strike but Munoz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Munoz gets to his feet. Bob looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Munoz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
