The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama shoots in but no luck this time.
Maeda rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Akiyama moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Maeda scores with a decent looking hook.
Akiyama fails in his attempt to clinch.
Maeda misses with a hook. Akiyama ducked under it nicely.
Maeda scores with a nice head shot.
Maeda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Akiyama.
Akiyama shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maeda defends it nicely.

Akiyama fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Maeda has cracked Akiyama with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Maeda lands another huge swinging hook and Akiyama tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Akiyama, before Maeda can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Takeo Maeda!
