The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Couture.
Couture looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Patino fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Couture sprawls well initially but Patino persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Patino is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patino takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Patino wants to lay and pray for a moment but Couture keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Patino thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Couture's head.
Patino uses his free foot to push down on Couture's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Couture.
Couture wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Patino.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Couture stuffs the takedown.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A left and a right from Couture both land. Nice combination.
Couture scores with a one two! Patino had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Couture stalks Patino and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Patino's face. Patino staggers backwards, shaken.
Couture connects with a single shot there.

Couture throws a series of punches but Patino moves out of range.
Patino changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Couture tries to avoid it but Patino manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Couture to the ground. Couture escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Patino misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Couture lands with a straight right. Patino didn't see that one coming.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Couture!
Patino tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Couture swivels and escapes.
Patino dodges the punch combination from Couture.
Couture throws a right hand that Patino ducks under and follows up with a left that Patino also avoids with ease.
Couture looks to land a combination. Patino sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Couture looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Patino closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Couture to the mat! Couture manages to get full guard.
Couture wants to get back to his feet but Patino is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Patino wants to control from the top but Couture keeps moving.

Patino moves nicely into side control.

Patino is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Couture is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Patino is working to tighten is grip on Couture's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Couture has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Patino is really squeezing tight and eventually Couture passes out! Patino breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
