Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Noguiera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shunsuke Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noguiera's entrance music is Someday. A fine choice. Nakamura has chosen Bate pesadão as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Noguiera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shunsuke Nakamura!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nakamura closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nakamura lands in his opponent's guard.
Nakamura won't allow Noguiera to sweep him here.

Nakamura stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Nakamura misses with a wild combination.
Nakamura throws a nice looking combination but Noguiera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nakamura lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Noguiera circles away quickly and effectively.
Nakamura lands with a nice combination. Noguiera backs away looking to recover.

Nakamura closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Noguiera ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nakamura moves away.
Noguiera walks into a stiff left hand from Nakamura.
Noguiera misses with a low kick.
Noguiera is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Nakamura.
Nakamura throws a series of punches but Noguiera moves out of range.
Nakamura moves away from the strike by Noguiera.
An inside leg kick from Noguiera misses.
Nakamura will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Noguiera motions for Nakamura to come forward. Noguiera throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Noguiera tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nakamura was well out of range. Poor timing from Noguiera.
Noguiera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nakamura sprawls well. Nakamura wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Noguiera gets slowly back to his feet.
Noguiera throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Nakamura scores with a one two! Noguiera had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Noguiera looks to score with a jab to the body but Nakamura is just out of range.

Nakamura takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Nakamura has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Noguiera finds it's way round the side to connect with Nakamura's head.

Noguiera lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Noguiera throws a jab when Nakamura was well out of range.
Noguiera swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Noguiera needs to keep his hands up - Nakamura had a free shot at his head there.

Nakamura shoots in and gets a takedown into Noguiera's guard.

Noguiera is looking for a triangle but Nakamura pushes his legs off easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Noguiera looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nakamura is one step ahead there.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Noguiera pushes Nakamura off looking to stand but Nakamura dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Noguiera is trying to maintain the position but Nakamura is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Roger Noguiera.

Noguiera wants to improve his position but instead Nakamura has moved into half guard.
Noguiera makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Noguiera.

Noguiera bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nakamura's guard.

Noguiera stalling.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Noguiera is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Nakamura reverses the position - he's now on top in Noguiera's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shunsuke Nakamura dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Noguiera missing with a left hand there. Nakamura was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Noguiera enables Nakamura to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Noguiera manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Noguiera wants to stand up but Nakamura is controlling him.

Noguiera pushes Nakamura off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Noguiera scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Nakamura throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Noguiera shoots in looking for a takedown. Nakamura tries to sprawl out of it but Noguiera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nakamura manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Noguiera throws a jab but it's blocked by Nakamura.
Noguiera lands a nice hook to Nakamura's body. Nakamura takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Nakamura swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Noguiera as he jumps to the side.

Nakamura shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Noguiera is trying to defend but Nakamura finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Noguiera tries to roll over but Nakamura keeps him under control.

Nakamura decides to return to a standing position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Noguiera dodges the punch combination from Nakamura.
Noguiera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Nakamura manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shunsuke Nakamura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Nakamura moves out of range as Noguiera strikes.
Noguiera fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Nakamura checks it well.
Noguiera walks into a stiff left hand from Nakamura.
Nakamura takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nakamura darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nakamura looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Noguiera throws a jab when Nakamura was well out of range.
Noguiera walks into a straight right hand from Nakamura.

Nakamura shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Noguiera can't escape the position.

Nakamura gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Noguiera looks to score with a jab to the body but Nakamura is just out of range.
Noguiera looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Nakamura feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nakamura wants to get up but he can't break Noguiera's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Noguiera is trying to keep Nakamura in close.
Noguiera looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Noguiera manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Noguiera looking to control but Nakamura is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Shunsuke Nakamura is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Noguiera scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Noguiera goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Nakamura is on top in guard.

Noguiera throws his legs up looking for a submission but Nakamura uses it to pass to side control.

Nakamura stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Nakamura slips a straight right by Noguiera.

Nice defenses there by Nakamura.

Nakamura changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Noguiera looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Noguiera wants to control but Nakamura postures up.
Noguiera is looking for a sweep.

Nakamura stands up.
Shunsuke Nakamura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nakamura connects with a crisp jab.
Nakamura shoots in for a takedown but Noguiera shows good takedown defense.
Nakamura throws a series of punches but Noguiera moves out of range.
Nakamura might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Noguiera tries to close the distance and clinch but Nakamura swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Noguiera is holding on to half guard well.
Roger Noguiera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nakamura takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Noguiera makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Noguiera.

Noguiera had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nakamura defends it easily.
Noguiera wants to stand and escape but Nakamura is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Nakamura has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
