Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryota Anzai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murdoch McVickers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryota Anzai has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryota Anzai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Murdoch McVickers!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anzai shoots in for a takedown but McVickers shows good takedown defense.

McVickers darts in and clinches Anzai up against the cage.

McVickers pulls guard successfully.
Anzai throws and elbow that misses. McVickers uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Anzai's guard. Nice move by McVickers!
Anzai is looking to stand up but McVickers isn't so interested in that idea.
McVickers wants to control from the top but Anzai keeps moving.
McVickers prevents Anzai from getting back to his feet.
McVickers sitting in guard here, content to control.

Anzai is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McVickers is controlling him.
Anzai on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Anzai tries to get out of the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Murdoch McVickers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Anzai shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McVickers as he jumps to the side.

McVickers closes the distance and clinches.
Anzai's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
McVickers lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
McVickers can't find room to land a body shot as Anzai controls the action.
McVickers is pressed up against the cage. Anzai has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McVickers down to the mat. McVickers avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryota Anzai. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McVickers closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Anzai quickly recovers to half guard.
McVickers trying to control the action but Anzai is working from the bottom.
Anzai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McVickers on the ground.

Anzai wants to get back to his feet.
McVickers works his foot free and advances to mount.
McVickers controlling the pace for now.
McVickers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Anzai is looking to escape.

Anzai is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
McVickers wants to take Anzai's back but he can't do it this time.
McVickers controlling the position easily from mount.
McVickers tries to control but Anzai wriggling away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Anzai's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
McVickers wants to control the pace but Anzai is squirming around nicely.
Anzai wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

McVickers swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Anzai is now in McVickers's guard. A big mistake from McVickers there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murdoch McVickers dominated that round.
That's time! Anzai's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Anzai tries to close the distance and clinch up but McVickers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McVickers slips a jab and a cross from Anzai.
Anzai fails in his attempt to clinch.
McVickers fails with the takedown.
Ryota Anzai is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Anzai tries to clinch up

and McVickers counters with a shoot takedown. Anzai fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McVickers controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Anzai has his feet on McVickers's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

McVickers decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Anzai pushes McVickers off but McVickers dives into side control.

McVickers looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
McVickers tries to move into full mount but can't pass Anzai's legs.

McVickers tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Anzai is pushing McVickers's head away, looking to escape. McVickers manages to hold on to the position though.
McVickers is looking to take a break and control but Anzai is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Anzai is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, McVickers asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Anzai is not content to let McVickers control the position.

Anzai is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McVickers has just dragged him back down to the mat.
McVickers trying to control the position but Anzai is working away.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Anzai is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McVickers is looking to take a break and control but Anzai is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Murdoch McVickers wasn't active enough on the ground.
Anzai tries to clinch but McVickers moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from McVickers as Anzai shoots in.
Anzai clinches but McVickers breaks the clinch

and McVickers counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Anzai!
McVickers trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for McVickers. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

McVickers is working for a guillotine from mount but Anzai frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murdoch McVickers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



McVickers drives through and clinches with Anzai against the cage.
McVickers misses with some punches.
McVickers has Anzai pressed against the cage.
McVickers gets through Anzai's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
A head punch on the inside from McVickers fails to land.
McVickers drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McVickers misses with the head strike.

McVickers pulls guard effortlessly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Anzai throwing strikes but missing.
McVickers pulls Anzai in close to prevent any damage.

McVickers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Anzai trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Anzai scoring with some ground and pound.
Anzai trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Anzai will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Anzai looking to sit in guard and control but McVickers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McVickers trying to control but Anzai is working from the bottom.

Anzai wants to get back to his feet but McVickers is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
McVickers trying to control the position from guard on top but Anzai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McVickers wants to pass the guard but Anzai is keeping the position.

Anzai keeping moving, preventing McVickers from controlling successfully.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

McVickers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anzai keeps working.
Murdoch McVickers has got the better of the ground game so far.
McVickers advances nicely into full mount.
McVickers content just to control the position here.
Anzai is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Murdoch McVickers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McVickers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
