PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Funaki Fujiwara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smelly Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fujiwara's entrance music is T.N.T. by Tonedeff. A fine choice. Nelson has chosen Animal Crackers In My Soup by Sherly Temple as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Smelly Nelson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson misses with a wild combination.
Fujiwara misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nelson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Fujiwara will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Smelly Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson lands a nice hook to Fujiwara's body. Fujiwara takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Nelson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nelson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Fujiwara throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nelson's waist but Nelson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fujiwara off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Funaki Fujiwara. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fujiwara is breathing heavily.

Horrible takedown by Fujiwara or perhaps it was just good defense by Nelson which made him look bad.

Smelly Nelson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nelson tries to keep at a distance but Fujiwara has taken the fight into the clinch.

Fujiwara drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nelson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nelson lands with a nice combination. Fujiwara backs away looking to recover.

Nelson is trying to buck Fujiwara off.
Fujiwara works to advance to full mount. Nelson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Fujiwara has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fujiwara is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nelson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
You get the feeling that Nelson really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Fujiwara is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Nelson is defending well though. Fujiwara let's go of the attempt for now.

Fujiwara has got one arm under Nelson's chin. This could be trouble... Nelson trying to control the other hand but Fujiwara gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Nelson has tapped out! The fight is over!
