Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shakyamuni Buddha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Franco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shakyamuni Buddha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bill Franco!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franco throws a jab when Buddha was well out of range.
Franco swinging wildly here.
Franco misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Franco tries to bum rush Buddha with a series of wild strikes but Buddha uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bill Franco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Buddha checks a low kick from Franco.
Franco swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Buddha shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Franco manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Buddha pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Franco is keeping the position for now.
Buddha sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Franco's guard.
Buddha wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franco keeps working.

Buddha is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Franco has managed to free his arm - good work.
Buddha trying to control the pace.

Buddha is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Franco is defending against the submission attempts here by Buddha.
Franco wants to improve his position but Buddha is controlling well.
Buddha is trying to control the action in half guard but Franco is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Buddha frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Franco squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Buddha tries to control but Franco wriggling away.
Franco tries to lock up and control but Buddha gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Buddha looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Buddha moves to the back.

Franco is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Franco is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Buddha's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Buddha looking for the RNC.

Buddha looking to break Franco's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Franco remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Buddha will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buddha wants to control but Franco is keeping busy.
Franco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Buddha. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Franco rolls, trying to escape but Buddha keeps control of the position.

Buddha is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Franco defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Franco is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Buddha gets his way!

Franco trying to get back to his feet but Buddha is in full control for now.

Franco is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Buddha gets his way!

Buddha is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Franco with him. Franco is trying to defend but Buddha has an arm under the chin now! Franco grimaces and is forced to tap out!
