Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Popinksi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry The Third (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Popinksi's entrance music is My Life. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabriel Popinksi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Henry The Third!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Third rushes Popinksi and presses him up against the cage.
Popinksi unloads a knee to the mid-section.
The Third stalling.
The Third tries to break free but Popinksi pushes him back against the cage.

Popinksi decides to pull guard.
Popinksi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The Third wanted to stand there but Popinksi had control of the position.

Popinksi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and The Third defends well.
Popinksi looking for a sweep. Not yet Popinksi, not yet.
The Third tries to free his leg and advance position but Popinksi is retaining full guard.
The Third in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Popinksi throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The Third trying to control but Popinksi is working from the bottom.
Popinksi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The Third seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The Third stops Popinksi from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Henry The Third hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Popinksi throws a series of punches but The Third moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Popinksi wants to clinch.
Popinksi shoots for a takedown but The Third saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The Third tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Popinksi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Popinksi drives through and clinches with The Third against the cage.
The Third tries to pull guard but Popinksi won't allow it.
Popinksi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. The Third just stands there and leans against the cage.
The Third changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Popinksi fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Popinksi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in The Third's guard.
Gabriel Popinksi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry The Third.

Popinksi is breathing heavily.

The Third throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Popinksi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Popinksi won't allow The Third to sweep him here.
The Third is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The Third is looking to take a break and control but Popinksi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The Third is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The Third seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The Third gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
The Third shoots for a double leg takedown but Popinksi sprawls well. He's pushed The Third's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The Third tries a low kick but Popinksi avoids it.

and Popinksi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for The Third!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel Popinksi dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



The Third shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Popinksi wants to control but The Third is having none of it.
The Third scoring with strikes but Popinksi is staying in there.
Popinksi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The Third jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Popinksi is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Popinksi and The Third has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Popinksi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but The Third wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Popinksi avoids any damage from the ground and pound of The Third.

Popinksi tries to improve position but can't.
The Third wants to lay and pray for a moment but Popinksi keeps working.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The Third tries to advance to mount but Popinksi denies him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Third is staying tight to Popinksi's torso, preventing him from escaping.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Henry The Third was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Popinksi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - The Third looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The Third moves in looking to clinch but Popinksi pushes him off.

The Third has managed to clinch.
The Third jumps guard but Popinksi stands there with The Third around his waist. The Third gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Popinksi prevents The Third from breaking the clinch.
The Third fails to pull guard.
Popinksi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite The Third's efforts to push away.

The Third has Popinksi pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. The Third pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Popinksi tumbling to the mat - The Third dives into Popinksi's guard.
The Third should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
The Third trying to control the position from guard on top but Popinksi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The Third pushes down on Popinksi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Popinksi is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute The Third jumps into side control!

The Third advances to full mount.
The Third trying to control but Popinksi is having none of it.
The Third in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

The Third throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Popinksi has his hands clasped together but The Third breaks the hold and Popinksi is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by The Third!
