Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hiroko Matsumato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jimmy Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsumato will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Matsumato to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johnson is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Matsumato off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Matsumato really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Johnson.

Matsumato's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Matsumato throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Matsumato off to one side.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses.
Johnson leaves Matsumato with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Matsumato fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Matsumato wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Matsumato, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
