PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Hardcore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jori Hurtta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hurtta has chosen pull my finger as his entrance music. Hurtta has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Jori Hurtta is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hardcore closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hardcore lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hurtta keeping moving, preventing Hardcore from controlling successfully.
Hardcore stays in close to Hurtta's body and controls the position.
Hardcore has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hardcore working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Hardcore stands up from Hurtta's guard - Hardcore perhaps looking for a knockout.

Hardcore forces Hurtta back against the cage and clinches.

Hardcore wants to hit a switch here but Hurtta passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hardcore there!
Hardcore wants to hold on but Hurtta pushes him away.
Hurtta throwing strikes here but Hardcore is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Hardcore is in all sorts of trouble here.
Hardcore prevents any damage by holding on tight.
Hardcore might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hurtta avoids the attempt from Hardcore to control.

Hardcore is trying desperately to improve position.
Hardcore is working hard here to advance position.
Hardcore tries to lock up and control but Hurtta gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hardcore is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ricky Hardcore just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hardcore shoots for a takedown but Hurtta saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hardcore closes the distance and clinches up with Hurtta, looking for a takedown. Hardcore pushes Hurtta against the cage but Hurtta circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hurtta throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hardcore's waist but Hardcore gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hurtta off to one side.
Jori Hurtta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Hurtta counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Hardcore. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Oh but Hardcore is tightening it up a little... Hurtta has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Hurtta reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Hurtta taps out! nice BJJ there by Hardcore!
