The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koppenhaver moves into range and clinches up with Brooks.
Koppenhaver has hold of one of Brooks's legs. Brooks is fighting the takedown attempt but Koppenhaver gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Koppenhaver slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Koppenhaver's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Trevor Koppenhaver just wasn't active enough.

and Koppenhaver counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brooks won't be happy with that.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Koppenhaver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brooks wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Koppenhaver is looking to work some ground and pound but Brooks has wrist control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brooks is working an open guard so Koppenhaver takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Oh but Brooks is tightening it up a little... Koppenhaver has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Koppenhaver reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Koppenhaver taps out! nice BJJ there by Brooks!
