Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simo Haeiski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miikka Kumpulainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haeiski comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny - Beatiful Morning. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Simo Haeiski!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Miikka Kumpulainen!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kumpulainen shoots for a takedown but Haeiski saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Miikka Kumpulainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Haeiski shoots in and bounces Kumpulainen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kumpulainen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Kumpulainen finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Haeiski moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Haeiski jumps guard but Kumpulainen stands there with Haeiski around his waist. Haeiski gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Haeiski is just content to waste time from the top position. Kumpulainen takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Kumpulainen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haeiski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
