Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heddy Lamaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lamaar comes into the arena with Pledge To Hedley Lamaar blaring out of the sound system. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Heddy Lamaar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Jones!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lamaar misses the shot to the body.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lamaar.
Lamaar avoids a punch combination nicely.
Heddy Lamaar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lamaar.
Lamaar throws the kick towards the body but Jones avoids it.
Lamaar does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Lamaar counters by clinching up.
Jones wants a takedown.

Lamaar has picked Jones up - he's going for a ride! Lamaar dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lamaar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lamaar controlling the action here.
Lamaar thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Lamaar passes to full mount!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lamaar lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Lamaar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jones can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Lamaar looking for a guillotine from mount but Jones is having none of it.
Lamaar thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Lamaar misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Jones wants to try and get back to his feet.
Lamaar lands a big shot there that rocks Jones but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Lamaar lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jones hang on?
Lamaar lands a heavy elbow.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lamaar cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


Jones is rocked!
Lamaar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lamaar throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Jones has his hands clasped together but Lamaar breaks the hold and Jones is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Lamaar!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Heddy Lamaar!
