Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Goodings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Skerlik!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Skerlik feints and as Goodings raises his hands in defense, Skerlik changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Goodings is trying to control the position but Skerlik postures up.
Goodings has control of Skerlik's left arm, preventing Skerlik from doing any damage.
Goodings looking to control.
Skerlik wants to control from the top but Goodings keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goodings throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Skerlik trying to control but Goodings is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bill Goodings wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Skerlik throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Goodings takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Skerlik leaves Goodings with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nick Skerlik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Goodings tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Skerlik manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Goodings shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Skerlik counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Goodings is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Goodings manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Skerlik manages to get himself to full guard.
Goodings passes Skerlik's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Goodings throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Goodings is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Goodings controlling the pace.

Goodings is keen to just control but Skerlik is a slippery customer.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Goodings stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bill Goodings wasn't doing enough on the ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Skerlik looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Goodings tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Skerlik manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Goodings could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A thudding body kick lands there by Skerlik!
Skerlik gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Goodings counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Skerlik's guard now.
Goodings wants to control from the top but Skerlik keeps moving.
Goodings slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Skerlik defending against the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goodings staying calm.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Goodings creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Skerlik sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Skerlik seems a little lost for a moment, as Goodings dominates the positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nick Skerlik will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Skerlik closes the distance and clinches.
Goodings holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Goodings is looking to break free of the clinch but Skerlik has double underhooks.
Goodings gets underhooks to prevent Skerlik's takedown attempt.
Goodings looking for a takedown.
Skerlik tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Goodings smiles and moves away.
Skerlik pushes Goodings away with a front kick.
Goodings has his takedown stuffed

and Skerlik counters with a shoot takedown. Goodings fights it but they end up in guard.
Skerlik trying to control the position from guard on top but Goodings is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Goodings might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Goodings wants to sweep but no luck.

Skerlik looking to improve position, pressing down on Goodings's thigh with his hand. Goodings seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Skerlik paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Skerlik's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Goodings picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
