Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ming Xin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muskeli Mies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Die Antwoord - Evil Boy. Mies is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The way of the fist. Ming Xin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ming Xin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Muskeli Mies!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mies fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Xin looks to land a right hand but Mies moved out of range.
Mies jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Xin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mies sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mies. Xin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mies takes a swing at Xin's ribcage but misses.
Xin scores with a one two! Mies had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Xin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mies was covering up waiting for the punch and Xin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Xin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mies works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Xin looking to pass the guard.
Xin wants to control from the top but Mies keeps moving.

Xin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mies is keeping the position for now.
Xin is working hard here to advance position.
Xin looking to sit in guard and control but Mies gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mies got a little sloppy there for a moment and Xin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mies has managed to get both his arms back between Xin's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mies tries to free his leg and advance position but Xin is retaining full guard.
Mies wants to control from the top but Xin keeps moving.
Mies would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mies trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Xin has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Mies trying to control but Xin is working from the bottom.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Muskeli Mies.
Mies connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Xin's hands.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Xin.

Xin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mies, who protects the arm well.
Xin creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mies sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Xin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mies keeps working.
Mies is pushing Xin's head away, looking to escape. Xin manages to hold on to the position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ming Xin dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Xin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Xin looks to land a combination but Mies avoids it well.
Mies throws a right hand that Xin ducks under and follows up with a left that Xin also avoids with ease.
Xin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Xin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mies.
Mies fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Xin throws a one two combo.

Xin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mies's guard.
Xin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mies swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mies keeping moving, preventing Xin from controlling successfully.
Mies really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Xin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Xin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Xin pushes down on Mies's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mies is refusing to be controlled, as Xin sits in half guard.
Xin is pressing down on Mies's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mies is holding on for now.
Xin missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Xin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mies is trying to stand back up but Xin is controlling him
Xin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mies keeps working.
Xin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Xin tries to pass to full mount but Mies defends it.
Mies looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ming Xin dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Mies falls off balance throwing a combination

and Xin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Xin is controlling the pace.
Xin trying to control from half guard but Mies is working away.

Mies looks like he's trying to stand up.
Xin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mies!
Xin thowing shots but they're missing.
Ming Xin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Xin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mies is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Muskeli Mies has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Xin controlling the position easily from mount.
Xin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mies is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Xin controlling from mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ming Xin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Xin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
