PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Rat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Roza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paddy Rat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Roza!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roza swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rat misses with a wild combination.
Roza misses with a straight left.
Roza misses with a wild body shot.
Roza keeps the fight on the outside.
Roza scores with the left hand. Rat knows he should have avoided that one.
Rat really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rat lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Roza circles away quickly and effectively.
Rat doesn't manage to clinch there - Roza circles away.
Roza throws a big shot that misses.
Some wild striking there from Roza.
Rat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roza paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rat is looking to clinch but Roza is avoiding it.
Rat tries to clinch but Roza moves out of range.
Roza throws a hook but Rat blocks it.
Rat uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Roza.
Roza is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roza throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rat misses with a double jab
enabling Roza to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Paddy Rat has been cut.
Roza looks to land a right hand but Rat moved out of range.
Paddy Rat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roza connects with a nice looking jab.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rat tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Rat is countered with a crisp right hand from Roza that sends him to the canvas! Roza follows him to the mat into side control.


Rat is rocked!
Rat struggling a bit here.
Oh Rat is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rat tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Rat seems to have got his legs back now.
Rat is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Rat working to try and regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Roza controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Roza has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rat on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rat tries to get out of the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Justin Roza hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Rat lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Roza circles away quickly and effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Roza dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Paddy Rat's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Roza cracks Rat with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Rat looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Roza finish him?
Rat looks to land a combination but Roza avoids it well.
Rat lands a two punch combo.
Roza misses with a straight right.

Roza feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Rat sprawling to the canvas! Rat rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Roza finish him?!


Rat is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Roza fakes the body blow, causing Rat to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Rat goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Justin Roza!
