PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thurston Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shields comes to the cage accompanied by Take your shirt off. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Thurston Moore!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields slips a jab from Moore.
Moore throws a series of punches but Shields moves out of range.
Moore throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shields.
Moore misses with a jab, cross combination.
Moore fails to land with a series of punches.
Moore is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shields uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Moore.
Thurston Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moore looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Moore swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Moore swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Moore swinging wildly here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shields uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Moore.

Shields closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shields lands in his opponent's guard.
Shields working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Moore's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Shields drops back looking for a leg! Moore is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Moore manages to kick Shields off! Shields jumps back into Moore's guard.
Shields is pushing down on Moore's leg trying to pass to half guard. Moore is fighting to maintain full guard but Shields has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shields decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Moore fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Shields checks it well.
Shields moves forwards but Moore connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Shields displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Moore throws out the jab.
Thurston Moore is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shields changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moore tries to avoid it but Shields manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moore to the ground. Moore escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shields moves out of range as Moore strikes.
Shields moves away from the strike by Moore.
Shields takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Shields takes a body punch but keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore lands with a big left! Shields is wobbled badly! Moore comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Shields to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
