PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heidan Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Euclides Cunhha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cunhha has chosen Raimundus - Eu quero ver o oco as his entrance music. Euclides Cunhha will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Heidan Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Euclides Cunhha!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cunhha throws a sloppy head kick and Warren moves out of range easily.
Cunhha misses with a jab, cross combination.
Warren takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Cunhha tries to sprawl but Warren drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Warren is taking a breather. Cunhha says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Warren is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Cunhha is defending against the submission attempts here by Warren.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Warren sitting and controlling from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Heidan Warren dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Warren closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Warren tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cunhha knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Warren slows the pace down in half guard.
Cunhha is in trouble now - Warren has advanced to mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Warren with shots to the head and body - Cunhha looks very uncomfortable down there.

Warren goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cunhha turns into him and now he's in Warren's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Warren is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cunhha won't allow Warren to get back to his feet.

Warren scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Cunhha lands with a kick to the temple. Warren shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Warren avoids the head kick by Cunhha.

Warren feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cunhha is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Warren decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cunhha, up you get!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cunhha does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Euclides Cunhha is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Warren showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cunhha.

Warren fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cunhha sprawls well initially but Warren persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Warren in particular looking to stall.

Warren is working for a submission of some sort.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cunhha is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Heidan Warren dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Warren drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Warren is looking to take a break and control but Cunhha is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cunhha parries the strikes from Warren easily there. Warren is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cunhha to escape.
Cunhha tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Warren is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Cunhha looks calm but he's in trouble here. Warren gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Cunhha is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Warren lets go of the hold and Cunhha can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Heidan Warren!
