PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Che Satomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Satomi comes to the cage accompanied by Bad Boys. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Che Satomi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Wood!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Satomi misses with a takedown attempt - Wood sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Wood throws a solid leg kick but Satomi takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Wood.
Wood lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Wood throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wood cracks Satomi with a right hand to the side of the head.
Satomi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wood swivels and escapes.
Satomi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Che Satomi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wood pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A combination from Wood does no damage.

Satomi feints and as Wood raises his hands in defense, Satomi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Satomi won't allow Wood to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Satomi trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom.
Satomi controls from within his opponent's guard.
Satomi wants to pass the guard but Wood is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Satomi controlling from the top position.
Satomi won't allow Wood to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Satomi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Satomi showed some decent athleticism there.
Wood is trying to stand.

Wood pushes Satomi off and gets back to his feet.

Satomi gets the takedown into side control.
Satomi controlling the position.
Satomi is looking to take a break and control but Wood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Satomi tries to move to mount but Wood blocks the move with his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Satomi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wood is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Satomi tries to move into full mount but can't pass Wood's legs.
Wood is not content to let Satomi control the position.
Wood wants to get back to his feet.
Satomi wants to control but Wood is keeping him busy.
Satomi just content to control the position.
Wood gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Satomi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wood can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Wood is desperately trying to improve his position but Satomi has a good base and remains in mount.
Satomi fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Wood really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Satomi scoring with strikes but Wood is staying in there.
Wood manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Wood is trying to control but can't.
Satomi slows the pace down in half guard.
Wood wants to get back to his feet.

Satomi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wood doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Satomi.

Satomi is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Wood has managed to free his arm - good work.
Satomi is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wood is trying to stand up here but Satomi is controlling him well.
Satomi wants to control but Wood is keeping him busy.
Satomi slips a nice elbow through Wood's hands, connecting with Wood's forehead.
Wood wants to get back to his feet.
Wood pushes Satomi off but Satomi dives into side control.
Satomi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wood keeps working.
Satomi has knee on belly and moves into mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Satomi looking to control but Wood is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Satomi wants to take Wood's back here but Wood is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Che Satomi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Satomi shoots in looking for a takedown. Wood tries to sprawl out of it but Satomi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wood manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wood misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Some wild striking there from Wood.
Satomi blocks a jab.
Satomi wants to clinch.
Wood just misses with a punch to the body.

Satomi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wood wants to get back to his feet but Satomi drags him back down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Satomi is looking to take a break and control but Wood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Satomi has hold of Wood's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Wood tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Satomi cranks the arm and Wood screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Wood, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Che Satomi!
Che Satomi retains his welterweight title!
