The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasel misses with a hook. Kovalev ducked under it nicely.
Kovalev shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vasel but Vasel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kovalev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vasel quickly recovers to half guard.
Vasel is trying to stand up here but Kovalev is controlling him well.
Vasel is looking to control Kovalev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vasel avoid being mounted?
Kovalev is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Vasel is trying to get back to full guard.
Kovalev is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kovalev seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Vasel is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
