Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newsom throws a series of punches but Diaz avoids them all with ease.
Diaz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Newsom.
Newsom throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A punch combination from Newsom misses.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Newsom moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Chris Newsom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Newsom looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Newsom fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Diaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Diaz thows a huge punch but Newsom dodges it nicely.
Diaz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Newsom's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Newsom avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Diaz.
Diaz missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Diaz uses his free foot to push down on Newsom's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Newsom.
A nice elbow there by Diaz.
The referee warns Newsom that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Diaz throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Diaz postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Newsom in real trouble here! The ref calls for Newsom to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
