PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Hain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hain kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Time Frame by Dom and Roland. Leonard Khan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Hain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leonard Khan!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Leonard Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hain paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hain gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Khan throws out a loose jab but Hain uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hain scores with a jab to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Khan. Those never looked like landing.

Hain clinches up against the cage.
Hain prevents the takedown attempt.

Hain has picked Khan up - he's going for a ride! Hain dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Hain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hain tries to free his leg and advance position but Khan is retaining full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Khan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hain controls the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hain stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hain dodges the punch combination from Khan.
Khan takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Khan throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

and Hain counters with a takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Khan shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Hain takes one to the chin there.
Khan lands a nice shot to the body.
Khan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hain defending well as Khan loads up on a big left hand.
Hain staying out of range there.
Hain checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Hain throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Khan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hain is in Khan's guard.
Hain wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.

Khan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hain's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Hain works over Khan with some ground and pound from guard.
Hain looking to pass the guard.
Khan wants to sweep but no luck.
Hain loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Hain controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hain wants to pass the guard but Khan is keeping the position.
Hain stands and throws Khan's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hain moves into full mount!

Hain looking to secure an arm triangle but Khan defends it well.
Khan tries to lock up and control but Hain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hain is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Khan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Hain has hold of Khan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Khan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Khan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hain has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Khan's face.

Hain is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Khan has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Hain thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Khan's head.

Khan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Khan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hain defends it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hain distracts Khan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hain won't allow Khan to sweep him here.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Sam Hain has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Hain clinches.

Hain turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hain manages to end up in side control.

Hain is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Khan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Khan takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Sam Hain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
