Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mehk Daniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Major (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mehk Daniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Major!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniel thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Major if he has to take too many more of those.
Daniel doesn't manage to clinch there - Major circles away.
Daniel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Daniel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Major tries to close the distance and clinch but Daniel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Major gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Daniel gets control of Major's arms and successfully pulls guard. Daniel will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Major stands and steps away. Daniel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Daniel throws a sloppy head kick and Major moves out of range easily.

Major takes the fight into the clinch.
Major lands with a short shot to the head.
Daniel jumps guard but Major stands there with Daniel around his waist. Daniel gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mehk Daniel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Major will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Daniel up against the cage.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Daniel is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Major scores with a nice hook to the head.
Daniel looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Daniel stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Major stalling in the clinch.
Major managing to block the knees to the body from Daniel.
Daniel lands a hook to the side of the head.
Major pushes Daniel back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Major holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Daniel jumps guard and drags Major to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Major wants to control from the top but Daniel keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Major postures up.
Daniel has control of Major's left arm, preventing Major from doing any damage.
Major keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Daniel's head.
Major wants to pass the guard but Daniel is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daniel looking for a sweep. Not yet Daniel, not yet.
Major wanted to stand there but Daniel had control of the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Major trying to control but Daniel is working from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Major fails in his attempt to clinch.
Major tries to clinch but Daniel moves out of range.
Daniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Daniel fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Major, pushing him back against the cage.
Daniel stalling in the clinch.

Daniel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Daniel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Major but Major pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Daniel is breathing heavily.
Daniel shoots for a double leg takedown but Major sprawls well. He's pushed Daniel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Daniel.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Daniel throws a nice looking combination but Major bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Major falls off balance throwing a combination
and Daniel makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Major gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Major scores with a nice hook to the head.
Major lands with a left to the head.
Major stalling the fight.
Daniel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A bit of stalling here from Major.
Major takes a knee right on the jaw!

Major turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Major manages to end up in side control.
Daniel is letting Major control him for a moment.

Major stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Major dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Daniel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Major instigates a clinch.

Major's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Daniel fails with an attempt to clinch.
Daniel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Major stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Major wants it to stay on the feet.
Daniel lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Major keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Major stalks Daniel and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Daniel's face. Daniel staggers backwards, shaken.
Daniel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Daniel closes the distance and clinches up with Major, looking for a takedown. Daniel pushes Major against the cage but Major circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mehk Daniel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Major closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Major throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Daniel stumbling backwards into the cage! Daniel bounces back off the cage towards Major, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Major lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Major celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Matt Major!
