Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Karpushev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Karpushev!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karpushev darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Karpushev prevents Emelianenko from improving his position.

Emelianenko has one foot on Karpushev's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Karpushev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Emelianenko as he jumps to the side.

and Karpushev counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Emelianenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Karpushev's guard.

Karpushev regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Karpushev is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Emelianenko gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Karpushev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Karpushev wants to control the action but instead Emelianenko gets a body lock and reverses into Karpushev's guard! Nice work!

Emelianenko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Karpushev is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Emelianenko, into his guard.

and Emelianenko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Karpushev won't be happy with that.

Emelianenko stands up.
Emelianenko tries to clinch but Karpushev is having none of it.

and Karpushev counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Emelianenko decides to stand up, so the ref orders Karpushev to his feet.
Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Karpushev as he jumps to the side.

and Emelianenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Karpushev's guard.

Emelianenko is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Emelianenko seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Karpushev for as long as he can get away with.

Emelianenko looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Karpushev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Emelianenko seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Emelianenko wants to free his trapped foot but Karpushev is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Emelianenko takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Karpushev doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Emelianenko counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Karpushev's guard now.

Emelianenko moves into range and clinches up with Karpushev.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Karpushev goes for a takedown attempt but Emelianenko pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Emelianenko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Karpushev looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Karpushev can't do much from the bottom here.

Emelianenko is trying to get an arm triangle but Karpushev is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karpushev takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Emelianenko remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Emelianenko has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Emelianenko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Emelianenko lands in his opponent's guard.

and Emelianenko counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Fedor Emelianenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Karpushev.

Karpushev moves into the clinch successfully.
Karpushev jumps guard but Emelianenko stands there with Karpushev around his waist. Karpushev gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Emelianenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fedor Emelianenko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Karpushev tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Emelianenko paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Karpushev swats away the attempt to clinch by Emelianenko.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fedor Emelianenko showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Emelianenko has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
