Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Makao Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janu Haperenu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Matsumoto might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sepultura - Territory . There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Makao Matsumoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Janu Haperenu!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haperenu gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Matsumoto to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Haperenu has his foot on Matsumoto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Matsumoto works his way back into a safe position though.

Matsumoto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Haperenu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Matsumoto has managed to get both his arms back between Haperenu's legs - danger averted.

Haperenu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matsumoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Matsumoto lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Matsumoto postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Matsumoto stays in close to Haperenu's body and controls the position.

Haperenu is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Haperenu is looking for a triangle but Matsumoto pushes his legs off easily.

Matsumoto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Haperenu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matsumoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Matsumoto content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Matsumoto sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Haperenu's guard.

Matsumoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Haperenu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Haperenu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Matsumoto manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Haperenu has Matsumoto in his guard.

Matsumoto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Matsumoto in particular looking to stall.

Matsumoto thuds his right hand into Haperenu's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Matsumoto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Haperenu was covering up waiting for the punch and Matsumoto finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Haperenu isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Matsumoto stacks Haperenu on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Matsumoto!

Matsumoto connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Haperenu some visible discomfort.

Matsumoto wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Haperenu, who protects the arm well.

Matsumoto cracks Haperenu with a big elbow.
Haperenu tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Matsumoto presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Matsumoto is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Haperenu to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Haperenu shrugs it off.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Matsumoto is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Matsumoto fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Matsumoto cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Matsumoto cracks Haperenu with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Haperenu is still in real trouble! Can Matsumoto finish him?
A big strike lands for Matsumoto! That's really hurt Haperenu and he's turned his back - Matsumoto keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Matsumoto jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Makao Matsumoto!
