PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Topi Helin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pertti Kiilopaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiilopaa comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Extreme Ways kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kiilopaa circles away quickly and effectively.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kiilopaa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Helin can pounce on him.
Helin stalks Kiilopaa and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kiilopaa's face. Kiilopaa staggers backwards, shaken.

Helin lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kiilopaa crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Helin - the referee stops the clock and Kiilopaa gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Helin. Kiilopaa manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Kiilopaa has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Helin.

Pertti Kiilopaa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Topi Helin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pertti Kiilopaa.

Kiilopaa is trying desperately to land a takedown but Helin is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Kiilopaa.

Kiilopaa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Helin quickly recovers to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kiilopaa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kiilopaa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kiilopaa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kiilopaa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Helin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kiilopaa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kiilopaa's back!

Helin has hold of Kiilopaa's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kiilopaa manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Helin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kiilopaa can do to turn this around?

Kiilopaa drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Kiilopaa seems to have locked his on tight now - Helin screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Kiilopaa, as he picks up the win!
