Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephan Anton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Martinez will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephan Anton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anton slips a jab and a cross from Martinez.

Anton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Martinez quickly recovers to half guard.
Martinez looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martinez is defending against the submission attempts here by Anton.

Anton's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Anton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Martinez for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Stephan Anton.

Anton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Martinez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Anton is in Martinez's guard.

Anton has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's time! Anton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Martinez moves in looking to clinch but Anton pushes him off.
Martinez throws a right and a left that Anton avoids nicely.
Martinez throws a series of punches but Anton moves out of range.
Martinez lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Stephan Anton has been cut.
Martinez throws a body kick that misses.
Martinez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Martinez looks to land a combination but Anton avoids it well.

Anton shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Martinez is trying to defend but Anton finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Anton thows a huge punch but Martinez dodges it nicely.

Anton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stephan Anton wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Martinez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Martinez wants it to stay on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Martinez misses with a two punch combination.
Chris Martinez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Anton has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Martinez finds it's way round the side to connect with Anton's head.
Nice takedown defense from Martinez. No joy for Anton on that attempt.
Martinez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Anton.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stephan Anton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Martinez gets caught flat footed, as Anton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Martinez keeping moving, preventing Anton from controlling successfully.
Anton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Anton is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Martinez.
Martinez throws a right and a left that Anton avoids nicely.
Martinez throws a nice inside leg kick.
Martinez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Anton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Stephan Anton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Anton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Martinez misses with a looping right.
Martinez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Martinez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Martinez stuffs the takedown attempt from Anton. Anton gets slowly back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Anton.

Anton working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Anton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Martinez, who protects the arm well.
Stephan Anton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Anton throws a strike aimed at the side of Martinez's head but Martinez avoids it well.

Anton content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Anton goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Martinez has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Anton but great work by Martinez.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Anton tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Anton wants to hold on but Martinez pushes him away.
Chris Martinez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stephan Anton.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
