The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suzuki doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Suzuki manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Suzuki stuffs the takedown.
Neil Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Suzuki.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Neil Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith fails to land the takedown.

Smith lands a left and a right that send Suzuki crashing to the mat, dazed. Smith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Masakatsu Suzuki has been cut.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Smith scores with a head kick. Suzuki tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Smith moves in looking to clinch but Suzuki pushes him off.
Smith lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Suzuki is looking to close the distance but Smith sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Suzuki crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Suzuki is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
