Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Chu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Evens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evens is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by lil wayne-6'7. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Evens!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chu closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


It looks like Chris Chu has been cut.
Chu tries to land a front kick but Evens steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Evens ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chu moves away.
Evens looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Evens misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Evens throws a right hand that Chu ducks under and follows up with a left that Chu also avoids with ease.

Evens shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chu is looking to control Evens's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chu avoid being mounted?
Well, if Evens is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Josh Evens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheers as Evens lands an impressive looking overhand right. Chu doesn't seem phased though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chu tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Chu takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Evens throws a right and a left that Chu avoids nicely.
Evens stuffs the takedown attempt from Chu. Chu gets slowly back to his feet.
Chu shoots for a takedown but Evens saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Evens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chu's waist but Chu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Evens off to one side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Evens counters with a nice low kick that buckles Chu's knee momentarily.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Chu is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Evens is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Chu moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Evens has worked his arm free - good work by Evens!

Evens is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Chu has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Chu tries to score with some ground and pound. Evens controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Evens is looking to reverse the position.
Evens manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Chu is in trouble now - Evens has advanced to mount!
Chu tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Evens trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Evens has control of Chu's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chu regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Josh Evens is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Evens controlling the pace for now.
Chris Chu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Evens blocks Chu's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

I would just about give that final round to Josh Evens.
I've got Evens winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
