PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drake Aubrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rambo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aubrey comes to the cage accompanied by Over - Drake. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Drake Aubrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Rambo!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aubrey with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Aubrey throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Aubrey lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Nice defenses there by Rambo.
Rambo throws an overhand right that lands on Aubrey's shoulder, as Aubrey tries to avoid the shot.
Aubrey throws a nice outside leg kick.
Aubrey throws a head kick that misses.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rambo crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Aubrey - the referee stops the clock and Rambo gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Aubrey. Rambo manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Rambo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Aubrey avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Aubrey is leaning against Rambo and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Aubrey works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aubrey is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rambo is defending well for now.

Rambo manages to pull guard.
Aubrey wants to pass the guard but Rambo is keeping the position.

Aubrey's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Aubrey slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Rambo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rambo stops Aubrey from passing to mount.
Aubrey is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rambo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A control attempt from Rambo but he's now mounted!

Aubrey can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rambo is looking to escape.
Rambo sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aubrey is looking to take a break and control but Rambo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rambo is looking for a sweep. Aubrey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Aubrey seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Drake Aubrey has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Rambo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rambo drops his hands momentarily and Aubrey takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Rambo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rambo lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rambo pushes down on Aubrey's leg and manages to get into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Rambo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Aubrey avoids it really well and circles away.
Rambo throws a hook but Aubrey blocks it.
Aubrey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rambo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Aubrey.
The fighters circling - Rambo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rambo looks to land a left hand but Aubrey moved out of range nicely.

and Aubrey counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rambo throws a hook to the side of Aubrey's head but Aubrey sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rambo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aubrey circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aubrey jabs Rambo right on the nose. Rambo blinks but takes it well.

Drake Aubrey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Rambo.

Rambo moves forwards but Aubrey connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Aubrey gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Aubrey takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A big right from Rambo misses.
That kick from Aubrey tenderised Rambo's leg. Rambo is trying to keep his angry face on.
Rambo fails with the takedown
and Aubrey counters with a nice low kick that buckles Rambo's knee momentarily.
Rambo is breathing heavily.
Aubrey is looking to land body kicks.
A left lands for Rambo.
Rambo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Aubrey counters with an outside leg kick.
Rambo misses with a straight left.
Rambo tries for a takedown but Aubrey circles away easily
and Aubrey counters with a solid body kick.
Aubrey connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rambo might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Aubrey gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Aubrey pushes Rambo back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Aubrey throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Rambos head.
Aubrey throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Aubrey tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Aubrey lands a big knee! That's hurt Rambo! Oh, he's all over the place! Aubrey lands another knee that sends Rambo to the floor and the referee steps in to end the fight!
