The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sasaki steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Meskanen.

Sasaki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Meskanen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sasaki tries to free his leg and advance position but Meskanen is retaining full guard.

Sasaki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sasaki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Meskanen is working an open guard so Sasaki takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Sasaki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Sasaki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Meskanen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sasaki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Meskanen tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sasaki misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Meskanen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sasaki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Meskanen tries to bench press Sasaki off him but Sasaki keeps the position.
